Photographer | Cinematographer
I’m James, a wildlife photographer and cinematographer living and working in Hoedspruit, South Africa.
My journey began on childhood overlanding trips, camping out in the wilds of Botswana and Zimbabwe, where I was the kid who never let go of the family camera. Those early experiences sparked a love for photography that has shaped my life ever since. On my 18th birthday I received my first camera of my own, and from that moment the path was clear, I wanted to dedicate myself to telling stories of the natural world.
Photography was the foundation of my work, film has expanded the way I tell stories. Moving images offer a different kind of depth, one that draws viewers into the scene, lets them feel the silence, the tension, the beauty of wild places as if they were truly there.
My work focuses on wildlife and the fragile balance of the natural world, told with a cinematic style that seeks to move beyond realism. It’s less about recording what happened, and more about evoking what it felt like, beyond simple documentation.
The bush is where I find peace and purpose, and it is from there that my work draws its energy. These images and films are the stories I bring back, fragments of wild places, offered to those who might never walk them in person.
